Save The Children In Kashiwa From The Radiation

Save the Children from the Radiation in Kashiwa City Mayor of Kashiwa, Hiroyasu Akiyama Although the city of Kashiwa is located approximately 200 kilometers away from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, radiation levels in Kashiwa are remarkably high. Many residents are very concerned about the dangerous health risks especially for the children. The radiation detected at The University of Tokyo Kashiwanoha campus and at The National Cancer Center Hospital East are nearly ten times more than the one announced officially by the city of Kashiwa. In order to assure a safe environment for the children in Kashiwa, please take these actions immediately. 1. We demand the city of Kashiwa measure the radiation levels at all day care centers, preschools, kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, play grounds, and all facilities for the children. The radiation levels must be checked in the three locations in each facility. These are inside of the facility, 1 meter above the ground outside, and directly on the ground. These results must be promptly disclosed to the public. 2. We demand the city of Kashiwa remove radioactive materials including the sand and dirt in the schools and public playgrounds. The contaminated sand and dirt must be replaced with clean, non-radioactive sand and/or dirt. These first steps are just the beginning in a series of actions which must be taken in order to ensure the safety of the citizens of Kashiwa.
